Arthur Clokey was born in Detroit, Michigan, in the year 1921. His most famous piece was the creation of Gumby. For the most part, Clokey's style or work consisted of model clay and forming and changing shapes. Clokey attended Webb school in Claremont. He also was enlisted to fight in WWII. After he took part in the war effort, Clokey graduated from his father's alma mater, Miami University. In his work many things interacted with one another to tell a story, most of the times the story was a metaphor. I became interested in Clokey's work because he was one of the top artists and his work just intrigued me.
